ABOUT THE TOWTHORPE SHOOTING DAY
Nestled in the serene Yorkshire Wolds, Towthorpe Sporting boasts an idyllic landscape of undulating grasslands, steep verdant slopes, and shaded valleys, providing an exemplary setting for both game and clay shooting. Your experience with us kicks off at 9 AM in our splendid shoot lodge, where you’re greeted with hearty bacon and sausage sandwiches accompanied by a warm beverage. Here, Richard will outline the day’s schedule, ensuring everyone is well-informed and ready for the adventure ahead.
Our typical day unfolds with a drive, followed by a refreshing break, then another drive, leading us back to the lodge for Elevenses, or perhaps enjoyed outdoors if the weather permits. The day continues with two more drives, featuring a diverse range of targets from swift, low-flying grouse to lofty partridges, offering a rich variety of challenges. The day culminates in a spirited rabbit competition, adding a touch of friendly rivalry and laughter as you vie for the title of top shot among your peers.
Upon conclusion, we retreat to the lodge for a sumptuous home-cooked roast or a delightful barbecue in the summertime, topped off with a delectable dessert. Our shooting season runs from April 1st to September 1st, and we include cartridges in all our packages, ensuring a hassle-free and enjoyable shooting experience at Towthorpe Sporting.

Crafted for both individual enthusiasts and intimate groups, our simulated shoot day at Towthorpe Sporting offers not only thrilling shooting but also an exceptional hospitality experience. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be immersed in comfort and tradition, indulging in fine food and drink to complement the day’s activities across four stimulating drives.
The day begins with a warm welcome featuring savory bacon rolls and sausage baps alongside freshly brewed coffee, setting the tone for the day. After a comprehensive safety briefing and the peg draw, which pairs participants for mutual loading assistance, the excitement of the first drive begins in the stunning Yorkshire Wolds.
Between drives, we take time for refreshment, enhancing the experience with carefully curated hospitality. Mid-morning, enjoy a selection of delectable canapés, including smoked salmon and cream cheese on homemade bread, the soup of the day, crispy battered prawns, and spring rolls, as well as succulent chicken goujons. These light bites are served as part of our renowned Elevenses, either in the cozy Shoot Lodge or alfresco if the weather is agreeable.
After the third drive, we return to the lodge for a sumptuous luncheon, crafted to satisfy and delight. Choose from our featured dishes such as roast pork with all the trimmings, rich lasagne served with new potatoes, salad, and garlic bread, or a hearty steak and ale pie accompanied by new potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
To round off the meal, we present an array of homemade desserts, including classic apple crumble with custard or ice cream, a variety of cheesecakes, and freshly baked scones served with cream and jam.
